This area has a small parking lot just east of Mariposa Latin Grill on the north side of 89a and offers a number of fine trails rights in Sedona. The parking lot offers a beautiful view and there are many beautiful views along the trails. Some of the hiking is urban and the views include homes, while other sections give a more wilderness feeling. It takes a little hiking before you get away from the traffic noise. There are a number of choices for trails that can be combined in various ways to form a diversity of routes. It is easy to build a loop hike. Given that the trailhead is less than 5 minutes from our house, we visit this area often. Here is a sample hike.
Adobe Jack 3 mile loop
This is one of the numerous possibilities for a hike in this area. It is a short loop that offers a variety of terrain and views. Hiking at a moderate pace without break should take about 1.5 hours. The Coyote trail portion is easy to miss. If you do, you can simply continue to Crusty trail and follow that to your car – this will actually cut off about a quarter of a mile.

Dining
The Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill is just east of the parking lot for the trail. It is pricey. I recommend lunch which is served until 2:30. Eat outside on the patio for a spectacular view. If you want something more affordable, take a short drive to the Paleo Brio Healthy Kitchen for a unique paleolithic dining experience – the food is good.
